Katniss proved to be a survivor by assuming the persona of the fabled “girl on fire” and winning one of the most horrific and lethal video games ever created. “The Hunger Games” has undoubtedly made an impact on the dystopian film genre, regardless of whether you first learned about Panem through the first film’s 2012 release or followed Katniss’ journey through Suzanne Collins’ dystopian YA novel series.

26+ Movies Like Hunger Games Series

1. The Percy Jackson Series (2010 – 2013)

A young hero who must quickly adjust to a completely new world has been introduced in many young adult novels. Percy Jackson travels through a similar path to Katniss as she trains to compete in the games.

Upon arriving at Camp Half-Blood, Percy discovers his demi-god lineage and has to swiftly adapt to this mythical new environment in order to survive and eventually fulfill the prophecy that destiny has for him. There were differences from the books, much like in movies like Hunger Games, but that criticism might be addressed by a new Percy Jackson TV series.

The Truman Show, a cinematic masterpiece, is the pinnacle of innovative and powerful storytelling. The story revolves around the vibrantly charming Truman Burbank, who has never ventured beyond Sea Haven, his idyllic hometown.

The whole moving cities and futuristic world’s appearance elevate the horrors for the future beyond simply having people living under a harsh regime.

A child is sent to train for an impending alien invasion in Ender’s Game. Even though Katniss Everdeen’s struggles and the sci-fi alien elements are not exactly the same, Ender and her training for a fight she does not want to be a part of are a lot alike.

After demonstrating his strategic warriorship in Ender’s Game, Ender trains alongside other cadets of his own age for a battle that could change the course of history. This epic drama does a better job of capturing the spirit and scope of movies like The Hunger Games than it does of merely putting forward a similar general idea.

6. Red Sparrow (2018)

This is a movie that fans of Jennifer Lawrence should definitely check out. The actress uses some of the action training from her time as Katniss Everdeen, in addition to showcasing her career development.

Lawrence, who plays a Russian spy who has been trained professionally to be a weapon in every way, is a lot more deadly and mature than the character she played in The Hunger Games. Although there isn’t much to compare this to movies like Hunger Games, it’s still a solid choice for fans who want to see Lawrence in a more mature role in Red Sparrow.
